Oase ClearLake - Microbial Treatment & Phosphate Binder

Oase's range of lake treatments make it easier than ever before to combat and prevent algal blooms, increase water clarity and achieve ideal water chemistry within the water to help plants and animals thrive. Before adding any treatments to the water, it is recommended that the water is tested to determine the key levels within the pond before treatment is considered.

Micro-organisms play a crucial part in any pond or lake ecosystem, breaking down organic matter such as algae and dead leaves. Often algae outbreaks can create a vicious cycle in which the algae depletes the oxygen levels within the pond, which then creates an environment in which only anaerobic bacteria can thrive. Anaerobic bacteria do not require oxygen, but they break down algae cells incredibly inefficiently and often into dangerous substances that can create nasty smells and even kill fish.

Oase ClearLake is a dual purpose microbial treatment that is made up of desirable micro-organisms, sodium bicarbonate, sodium chloride and zeolite. The sodium compounds provide both the microbes with their required nutrients and create the conditions for them to begin breaking down algae cells. Once metabolised, the algae cells are broken down into its constituent elements such as ammonia that remain in the water. This is where the zeolite comes into the equation. Zeolite binds ammonia rapidly, pulling it out of solution and into a form in which it can do no harm to the lake. If this zeolite was not present then the ammonia would remain in the water where it would essentially act as fertiliser for future algae growth.

After application, the lake requires a downtime of 48 hours, after which it is safe to swim in again. The treatment keeps its efficacy for up to an impressive 10 weeks after application. The water temperature should also exceed 10 degrees to ensure that the bacteria has the correct conditions required to metabolise the algae cells. This bacterial treatment should not be combined with chemical treatments (ie. Algolon or SeDox) as they can interfere with each other.

The Oase ClearLake is available in 5kg, 10kg, 25kg or 50kg units and comes with a shelf life of 5 years.
