Oase Algolon - Oxidiser & Algae Treatment

Oase's range of lake treatments make it easier than ever before to combat and prevent algal blooms, increase water clarity and achieve ideal water chemistry within the water to help plants and animals thrive. Before adding any treatments to the water, it is recommended that the water is tested to determine the key levels within the pond before treatment is considered.

Oxygen is one of the most important elements within the chemistry of our pond or lake water, but is often overlooked until it is too late. Not only do fish and other aquatic animals require oxygen to breathe, but healthy aerobic bacteria require it to metabolise organic material such as algae cells and dead leaves.

The Oase Algolon releases large quantities of oxygen into the lake through the use of the oxidising agent sodium percarbonate. When added to the surface of the lake, the sodium percarbonate begins to react with the water to create hydrogen peroxide (harmless in these doses). This hydrogen peroxide then breaks down into nothing but water (H2O) and oxygen (O2) over the course of 72 hours. When applied directly to algae, the hydrogen peroxide oxidises the algae cells, effectively killing them. Algolon is perfect for keeping in your van for when oxygen is needed immediately in a pond or lake.

We recommend removing as much of the algae as possible by hand before adding any treatments as this will reduce the amount of AlogLon required. The Algolon can be used alongside the Oase SeDox and SeDox Speed which bind the nutrients that are released by the breakdown of the algae cells so that they cannot contribute towards future algae outbreaks. However, Algolon should NOT be combined with bacterial treatments (i.e. ClearLake or SchlixX) as this can interrupt the efficacy of each treatment.

The Oase Algolon is available in 5kg, 10kg, 25kg or 50kg units and comes with a shelf life of 5 years.
