Oase SeDox - Phosphate Binder

Oase's range of lake treatments make it easier than ever before to combat and prevent algal blooms, increase water clarity and achieve ideal water chemistry within the water to help plants and animals thrive. Before adding any treatments to the water, it is recommended that the water is tested to determine the key levels within the pond before treatment is considered.

Phosphate is an essential nutrient that algae cells require to grow and duplicate. Over time phosphates can build up and accumulate in the pond or lake through agricultural run-off entering the water, through the breakdown of organic matter such as dead leaves, or through the breakdown of algae.

The Oase SeDox is designed to prevent the algae from being able to access these phosphates by adding reagents that react with the phosphates to create the insoluble mineral apatite. As it cannot dissolve in water, the apatite simply sinks to the bottom of the water where it essentially becomes a harmless and non-reactive sediment. Depending on the amount of phosphates present, the SeDox can remain effective for up to 6 weeks, at which point phosphates may begin to accumulate again unless treated at its root source.

SeDox is especially effective as a follow up treatment to algae treatments as the process of breaking down algae releases phosphates into the water. If these phosphates are not dealt with then they remain in the water where they can actually encourage further algae outbreaks.
