Oase SchlixX - Organic Silt Treatment & Phosphate Binder

Before adding any treatments to the water, it is recommended that the water is tested to determine the key levels within the pond before treatment is considered.

One of the most overlooked aspects when treating lakes is silt comprised of organic matter such as dead leaves and dead algae. The silt, while mostly harmless when static on the lake bed, can easily be disturbed or stirred up by wildlife and boats which then releases trapped phosphates into the water. Bacterial processes within the silt also require vast amounts of oxygen, otherwise the healthy aerobic bacteria will turn anaerobic, creating a whole host of harmful toxic substances that can cause great harm to the lake if not treated.

The Oase SchlixX lake treatment aims to cover both of these issues that stem from silt. The first part of this is the release of huge amounts of oxygen into the water to encourage aerobic bacterial processes, while the second part of the treatment binds the massive amount of phosphates that are contained within the silt. The process of binding the phosphates pulls them out of solution and turns them into the insoluble mineral apatite. This mineral is totally harmless to wildlife and, unlike phosphates, cannot be used by algae cells. Many other silt treatments on the market do not bind the phosphates after they are released, leaving them in the lake water which encourages future algae growth.

The SchlixX is available in 10kg, 25kg, 50kg or 500kg units. This treatment is only suitable for treatment of silt made up of organic material (i.e. not sand).
