Oase OptiLake - pH Buffer

Oase's range of lake treatments make it easier than ever before to combat and prevent algal blooms, increase water clarity and achieve ideal water chemistry within the water to help plants and animals thrive. Before adding any treatments to the water, it is recommended that the water is tested to determine the key levels within the pond before treatment is considered.

The first stage of treatment for any lake or large body of water should be to stabilise fluctuations in pH level as much as possible. The pH levels of the pond or lake often change and become unstable due to the growth of algae and or plants, the fish population, adding water, and dead leaves falling into the water. Permanently low/high pH values or wide fluctuations in the pH leads to stress for plants and animals, as well as reducing the effectiveness of the lakes natural cleaning processes.

Comprised of perfectly safe calcium and carbon dioxide pH buffers, the Oase OptiLake is added to the lake to stabilise the pH value, keeping it between 7.5 and 8.3 with less severe fluctuations in pH throughout the daily lake cycle. An optimal carbon dioxide concentration as well as ideal hydrogen carbonate and calcium contents are imperative to the survival of all living organisms in the pond. OptiLake also supports the growth and reproduction of algae-eating micro-organisms, so biological self-purification of the pond begins immediately. This treatment also creates favourable conditions for other lake treatments to work more efficiently.

The Oase OptiLake is available in 10kg, 25kg or 50kg units and comes with a shelf life of 5 years.
