Evolution Aqua Tempest Filter System

Multi-award winning U.K. based manufacturer Evolution Aqua have almost two decades of experience in designing and creating specialist pond filtration systems, in which time they have become one of the most respected aquatic brands in the world.

The Tempest filters make use of the Evolution Aqua K+ biomedia to produce a vast surface area for healthy bacteria to develop and grow, providing excellent biological filtration. When water is pumped through the Tempest the 7 litres of K+ media get compressed towards the top of the filter, which creates a physical barrier that mechanically filters fines and sediment as the water is passed through towards the outlet.

They can be used in a variety of applications, for example to 'polish' water exiting from a primary gravity-fed filter such as the Nexus+, as a standalone filter on a small pond, or installed to provide additional filtration to a pond with an existing filter system. If used in a standalone system, multiple Tempests can be installed together, fed by the same pump.

The Tempest filters can be easily cleaned by simply closing the provided solvent weld slide valves and opening up the waste gate valve. When the water drains out the waste valve the air inlet will open, agitating the sediment loose from the media. Once emptied of water, the Tempest and media can be washed with a hose pipe by opening up the cap on the top of the filter.

The inlet and outlet require solvent weld adhesive to connect the provided slide valves, which can then connect to either 1½" imperial or 50mm metric solvent weld PVC pipe. There is also an optional kit available to attach a solvent welded hose tail to allow flexible hose to be connected if preferred. Installed upright with the air intake valve and waste gate at the base, they can be mounted using the two provided clips that clamp onto the PVC outlets. These clamps should be mounted to a surface that can easily take the weight of the Tempest once it is full of water (approx. 30kg).
