Evolution Aqua Nexus+ Filter System

Multi-award winning U.K. based manufacturer Evolution Aqua have almost two decades of experience in designing and creating specialist pond filtration systems, in which time they have become one of the most respected aquatic brands in the world.

Possibly the most renowned filters in the Evolution Aqua range, the Nexus+ range cleverly combine both mechanical and biological filtration and are available in two sizes to closest match the volume of the pond. They achieve this through two separate filter chambers within the unit. The unfiltered water enters the inner chamber first where the flow of water creates a vortex around the stainless steel "Eazy" filter that contains the static K1 Micro biomedia. This vortex encourages large solids to settle at the bottom of the inner chamber. The remaining fine particles are then mechanically captured by the static K1 Media as the water flows through the Eazy filter and into the outer chamber.

The outer chamber then works as a moving bed style biological filter with the aid of the K+ media and an aerator pump (not provided). Biological filtration is essentially completed in this stage by encouraging an environment where healthy aerobic bacteria can break down toxic nitrites, nitrates and ammonia into non-harmful substances. With their massive surface area, the K+ media are designed to be a physical platform for this bacteria to grow on while they are churned and fed with oxygen by the aerator pump that is simply attached to the built in airline.

After this stage the water is simply fed through into the outlet chamber, at which point it can flow through the outlet pipe back to the pond (pump fed system) or flow down the outlet into a dry mounted pump that then pumps the water back to the pond or a watercourse via a UV clarifier (gravity fed system). In a pump fed system, the water should be pumped through the UVC before it reaches the Nexus filter.

Instructions for cleaning and back-flushing the Nexus filters are provided in the scope of delivery. More information regarding installation and cleaning are available on the datasheets on this page.
