Wall Cable Transition Kits

Often overlooked in the designing of ponds and water features is how to hide the cable for any electronics such as pumps, aerators and lighting. One solution is to transition the cable through the wall of the pond or reservoir below the water level where it can be hidden out of sight along with any pipework.

We have put together these cable transition kits to enable rubber cable between 7.5mm and 14mm in diameter to be taken into the pond through brickwork, complete with M20 cable glands, rubber washers and PTFE tape to prevent leaks.

To install, simply wrap PTFE tape around the thread of the M20 gland, thread it into the female inlet of the transition, and drill a 21mm hole in the side wall/substrate for the transition up to a maximum wall thickness of 85mm. After the hole is drilled, place the fitting in the hole, ensuring that there is a rubber washer on each side before tightening to create a tight seal. We recommend using a bead of sealant around the seal to further increase water tightness and longevity. Finally, pull the cable through the M20 gland and tighten to complete the transition.
