Perforated Land Drainage Coils - 80mm
Manufactured from durable high density polyethylene, these flexible land drainage coils are perforated to allow excess water to be collected and distributed to a soakaway where it can then be absorbed back into the surrounding earth. It can be used to alleviate undesirable water-logging in areas where the ground is over saturated with water, with a range of pipe sizes available for jobs ranging from small garden lawns all the way up to larger scale agriculture or construction.
To install the 80mm land drainage coils, a water collecting trench to be back-filled with gravel must first be dug for the pipe to sit in. The width of the trench should be approximately 380mm (300mm + 80mm) to allow at least 150mm of gravel back-fill on either side of the pipe. The trench should also be deep enough to allow for a 100mm base layer of gravel for the 80mm drainage coil to sit on, along with a further 300mm drainage layer of gravel on top of the pipe and finally 150mm of top soil to cover and conceal the drainage system. This means that if the 80mm coil is chosen, the total trench depth should be approximately 630mm (100mm base + 80mm coil + 300mm drainage layer + 150mm top soil). The gradient should also be considered during installation as the water will need to use gravity to flow to the soakaway.
Once the trench is dug out it should be lined with non-woven land drainage geotextile to prevent soil and silt from entering the system over time and causing the system to clog. Once lined, the pipe can be installed and back filled with gravel to the above specifications before the top soil layer is applied. The 80mm woven geotextile sleeve can also be installed around the land drainage coil to protect the integrity of the system further still.
A range of accessories are also available which include straight connectors, Y-piece connectors and end caps.
