Gardena AquaBloom Solar Powered Drip Irrigation Kits
Since its founding in 1961, Gardena has developed from a small trading company selling garden tools into the globally recognised manufacturer we know today. In 2007 Gardena became a member of the Swedish Husqvarna group, giving them access to the resources needed to develop their technology further than ever before.
The Gardena AquaBloom system is an innovative all-in-one kit that harnesses the power of the sun to provide micro irrigation in areas where a standard mains water supply is not available. This makes them absolutely ideal for use on balconies, small courtyards, terraces, or even allotments. The only additional element required to begin watering is a source of water for the pump to draw from such as a water butt or even a bucket. This, combined with the supplied inlet filter, allows rainwater to be harvested and used for irrigation.
The kit contains 1x solar powered AquaBloom pump, 3x rechargeable AA batteries, 1x 20m length of 4mm tubing, 1x 4mm inlet filter, 15x 4mm pipe pegs, 8x 4mm end plugs, 8x 4mm tees, 20x 4mm in-line drippers. The pump is powerful enough to supply sufficient water to all of the supplied drippers, with each dripper emitting up to 0.5 litres per hour.
The pump is incredibly efficient, consuming just 1w of power when active during the water cycling and delivering up to 10 litres per hour. Despite it's minimal power usage and its compact design, it is still capable of drawing water from up to 1.5m below the pump, and pumping up to a whopping head height of 4m. The pump comes complete with a mechanical interface that displays an array of watering frequencies and run times which can be selected through the use of the central dial. There is also a button that can be pressed to begin a 5 minute watering cycle on demand.
Please note: the solar panel should be given at least 8 hours of daylight before the first irrigation cycle is started to allow the batteries to be sufficiently charged.
